Abstract

Today, the problem of extremism and radicalism in society becomes increasingly relevant. The practice shows that toughening of the system of punishments does not lead to a decrease in the level of extremist crimes. In the article, in order to counteract radical and extremist sentiments in the student environment, the author offers implementation of the value system and ideological attitudes of youth, which have a direct impact on the perception by youth people of the surrounding reality. The study showed how important is the existence of the unifying idea and the need for a youth’s involvement in any community. Young people who share patriotic sentiments go through a process of social identification, which consists of the awareness that their own well-being and the well-being of the group are linked. Moreover, the confidence of young people in the future, and awareness of their future affects the perception of political reality and the activities of the country leaders. In the context of the above, the author concluded it is important for the state to work on the formation and promotion of patriotic projects among students because various extremist ideologies and trends are more actively manifested in the conditions of the ideological vacuum.
