Russian-Moldovan Relations and Political Positions of Russia in Moldova: Prospects in the Context of Intra-Regional Consequences

Abstract

The article discusses the issues of Russia’s participation in the political processes of Moldova with an emphasis on regional specifics, an in-depth study of which makes it possible more effectively assess the Russian potential in this area. It assesses the actions of the main political actors of Moldovan politics during the parliamentary elections of 2019 and the subsequent political crisis that led to a situation that allows Russia to more effectively realize its interests in Moldova. The fundamental factors that influence the vector of domestic and foreign policy development of Moldova and determine the actions of the Russian political leadership in the course of implementing measures to implement the foreign policy doctrine of Russia in the region are given and characterized. The prospects of Russian positions in the course of a dynamically changing political situation in Moldova are considered, relying on both fundamental factors and the experience of political interaction between countries, and in the context of the current political situation.
