Abstract

Military-technical co-operation between countries represents an important aspect of trade relations in the context of escalation of both long-standing conflicts and recent confrontations. The modern world is faced with challenges, the main of which is scientific and technological progress, which has a significant impact on the arms race. With the development of new technologies and scientific discoveries, better and more effective weapons are emerging, which stimulates countries to create and improve their military systems. These and other issues explain the importance of military-technical cooperation at present. Russia and India are major arms exporters and importers respectively. The countries share a long history of military co-operation, which is strategically important to both nations as it enhances security, technology development, economic growth and strengthens the geopolitical position of the parties. This article examines the areas of cooperation between Russia and India, including the supply of arms and military equipment, exchange of equipment and technology, licensing cooperation, the specifics of economic and geopolitical interaction between the countries in the military-industrial complex, and the states’ domestic policy goals and objectives.
